The Buffalo Belay jacket is a lightweight outdoor jacket that can be packed away into a small lightweight parcel making it the ideal jacket to use when the weather closes in or as a general everyday walking jacket.

Used by professionals the world over, this durable, comfortable and versatile piece of kit is popular with armed forces, mountain rescue teams and outdoor enthusiasts.

It can be comfortably used as it was originally intended as a second layer to Buffalo’s mountain shirt but is equally popular and capable of being worn over a regular base layer.

The AquaTherm fibre pile and Pertex shell are a combination well known to keep you incredibly warm whilst keeping any perspiration away from your body. It has 2 fully pile lined outer pockets, ideal for keeping your hands warm or carrying your map.

The Belay jacket is windproof up to 50 mph with a fully baffled two-way front zip this jacket is ideal for many outdoor uses including sailing, mountain climbing, general walking and high-level outdoor sports.

Adjustable cuffs and hood collar (hood collar available separately) are made easy with touch and close technology. A prized possession amongst military personnel and adventurers, this jacket comes highly recommended.

Care Instructions:

Buffalo Systems shirts, trousers and jackets require intentional care. It is important to follow the washing instructions on your garment. Do NOT tumble dry, dry clean, use fabric softener or use a wash-in waterproofing agent.

Ideally, wash in Nikwax Tech Wash (max washing temperature 30°c). This is recommended to maintain the high-performance level of your garment. Nikwax TX Direct SPRAY ON can be applied only after washing.

Perfect!

I’ve had a few buffalo’s but wanted the belay as I liked the full zip as an alternative. For me it provides more usage as the temp can be controlled more by opening the zip. Great job, It’s well put together and durable. Very pleased.
The pile is very comfortable and dries quickly. Versatile and top quality. Everyone needs one!

Buffalo belay jacket

A Buffalo item doesn't need a review as consistent quality should be a given: Buffalo apparel is my post- winter swimming anti-hypothermia standard and a slip in its performance would be intolerable. Postage and service from Military Kit were great and fuss-free, though placcy bag covering item could have been a bit more durable: outer wrapping had a few nicks when item arrived which mercifully didn't pierce the Buffalo. I'd have returned it in extreme miffage had they done so. All well!

Really good Buffalo pile lined pertex outer zip up jacket.

Really liked the old one I used to have, so this is the replacement for the long ago lost one. Very warm coat. I got also hood in green to match the jacket. Had to get a 48 inch chest as they size up a little smaller than the Special Six shirt and their unlined Windshirt, it seems. To be able to be snug fitting like the 46 inch chest shirts are on me.

The perfect jacket

I already own the Buffalo Special 6 Shirt which is perfect hiking/outdoor jacket for autumn/winter, so I wanted the same versatility just in a different colour and style. Again, a great piece of kit – looks great, but more importantly I’m not overheating in spring temperatures but I'm warm when it drops close to zero. Also ordered at 3pm one day, arrived the next morning!! Excellent service, Highly recommend.
